It's like two yummy treats in one!

4th Of July Graduation Party

This Summer we made a trip back to Ohio for a couple weeks. It was so much fun!
While we were home, my youngest brother Jack had his high school graduation party.
He wanted cupcake kabobs to share with the guests so I made these vanilla cupcakes with strawberry spacers. They were great and people loved them!

As a surprise, I made Jack a cake that looked like a American flag when you cut into it.
(You can see the whole cake in the background to the left on the table.)
It was red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting... and 5 layers!!!
People loved it and it was so yummy too!
(flag cake instructions here)

Jack is going to the University of Cincinnati and will be pursuing a degree in law enforcement. I thought the flag would be great for both 4th of July and his future profession!

Congrats Jack!

Baby Shower Cupcakes

My sister in law Katie who helps me with the cupcakes sometimes
(and helped me make this jungle safari cake)
made these adorable cupcakes for her friends baby shower.

They were chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting and small marshmallow fondant flowers!

I looooooove mini cupcakes! They are stinkin cute!

Drink Cupcakes!

A friend of mine, Denys, turned 30 this past week and she had a luau! I had so much fun making these cupcakes for her!

The first is the Pina Colada Cucpakes.
It is a pineapple rum cupcake with coconut frosting.

The second cupcakes were Shirley Temple!
They were vanilla cupcakes with orange frosting and a cherry on top!
Happy Birthday Denys!

Hip to be SQUARE!

I am in love.
I have been dreaming of square cupcakes for months now... and now my dreams have come true!
I was so anxious to use my new cupcake tin that I made these cupcakes for no reason at all!
OK- well I guess I really make them because I also wanted to show off my new cupcake stand :)

Square cupcakes tend to be slightly larger then regular cupcakes but can be used in many different ways!
I can't wait to use them for pull apart cakes, to create letters or numbers etc.
The possibilities are endless!

**NEW** Lemon Meringue TALL Cupcakes!

I am so excited to introduce my new cupcake size...TALL cupcakes!
And also out new summer flavor:
Lemon Meringue!!

When people ask me what my favorite flavor is... I truly have a hard time picking. It usually depends on my mood, the time of day, how hungry I am etc.
But not anymore!
This is officially my favorite cupcake! Which is surprising because of my unconditional love for chocolate!
After slaving away with these wonderful creations I took them to my trusty test group (fellow employees) to let them have a taste!
There was one critic who I was DYING to hear his opinion of these specific cupcakes... we will just call him the 'lemon hater'! It is well known around the office for his despise of everything lemon! After TWO cupcakes... he finally gave me his critique of the cupcake!
((drum roll please!!!)))
And I quote: "I don't like lemon, but these cupcakes are great!!"
Side note: He went on to have TWO MORE cupcakes later that same day :)
I was so pleased!
The Lemon Meringue cupcake is described as follows:
Moist lemon cupcake with refreshing lemon curd filling and soft meringue frosting!
